History

R. G. Hansen & Associates was established in 1972 for the purpose of selling and servicing laboratory cryogenic systems and components to Universities, Aerospace firms, Federal laboratories and industry. In 1985 the operation changed from a manufacture's representative, who customized systems for particular applications, to a manufacturer of its own products. In 1986 we introduced three new products to the analytical and research communities:

  1. Ultra high vacuum liquid helium cryostat capable of operating at 10 - 11 torr
  2. A variable temperature cryostat capable of cooling spectroscopy samples over the temperature range of 4.2° Kelvin to 450° Kelvin
  3. Single stage closed cycle refrigeration systems which were instrumented to accommodate military infrared focal planes to ongoing Air Force reconnaissance requirements

In 1989 licensing rights and technology transfer to design and fabricate Joule-Thomson cryostats were negotiated and purchased. In 1992 the Joule-Thomson cryostat program was fully implemented and in production. In 1995 we placed our emphasis on expanding our military, Joule-Thomson cryostat technology. We expanded our domestic and international sales, and our production capabilities which now supports over 75 different J-T configurations.

Since 1992 the following major Cryostat Production contracts were awarded:

From the span of 1996 to present we have remained active as a leader in the development, repair, and manufacturing of JT Cryostats. Our customers include the Governments of Israel, Italy and Germany. Also Boeing, McDonnell Douglas Corporation, Raytheon, Northrop Grumman, The United States Navy, and numerous others.
